Real talk - we've got a lot of scholarships to fill

If any of us complain and shame players about how much anyone gets paid next season, we haven't learned anything. Let's fill this roster with real P5 players.

So how much does a "real" P5 player cost? Assuming a "real" P5 player has similar $$ offers, what does SU put on the table that makes us a better option? Not all that cut and dried.

For sure. I mean we have an incredible core group that not many teams have in place next season at this time. We just need to fill it out well.

We need 3 more starters (C, PG, forward). And we need to add enough bodies to have actual depth. Injuries are going to happen.

I mean, if we're counting on all 4 frosh to be big contributors I think we know that the 25-26 season ain't going to end well.

There’s something like 12 million players in the portal, give or take a few. Some of them probably suck and some of those guys who suck probably think orange is a nice color. We can get them to fill the last couple spots.

I think the norm going forward is to rely on portal classes that are as big as the freshman classes. 2 returners, 4 freshman, 4 portals = 10. There’s your scrimmage teams. Add a couple guys just happy to be there and boom you’ve got a roster.

We need find 5 more players in the portal. I’d feel a lot more comfortable if we landed at least two more this week, especially a PG. The way last year’s portal played out leaving us with scraps from low major programs has me a bit concerned. I know we have more NIL but until we start landing some key players I’m going to be uneasy.

The ideal scenario would be 2 each of PG, SF, C, for a total of 6. Agreed. The negotiable piece is SF because I’m getting the sense that we’re going Villanova-esque with a 3 guard lineup. If that ends up being the case, we can get away with bringing in one SF who we really like.

Big money needs to go to PG1. PG is like QB. If you have 2, you have 0. We’ll need a 2nd one but it has to be a clear backup role, imo. We can never have enough Centers. Those big bastards drop like flies.

need to continue to emphasize that celebrities and athletes, barring a very few public examples, rarely give. Their job is to build excitement and attract whales, who do give

Undersized or not athletic enough, but über skilled, experienced and motivated. And wants to possibly get into coaching after graduation. A great 12th-13th man who needs a free grad degree…

Yea I think this is the last roster spot or an overseas player.

I don’t recommend it as a philosophy for building your program… Drake was good this season, but there are 300 programs who weren’t lightning in a bottle who also have all mid major talent that weren’t any good.

With our injuries and underperformance, Syracuse was one of them. We don’t want that again.

But having a grinder from lower levels with a targeted elite skill as our deep depth wouldn’t hurt.

Bigs tend to take a little longer to develop. I wouldn’t mind a 23 year D2 guys as the fourth big. Wasn’t it Baylor who had the center who was D3 then JUCCO and finally their starting center.

While a scumbag Bruce Pearl let a very truthful nugget slip when he was interviewed on CBS sports network a few hours after the brackets got revealed. He said he didn't want other high major problems. He'd rather get the guys from the smaller schools that are hungrier and would appreciate Auburn's amenities more than the pampered and catered to since age 14 AAU star that washed out of his first school.
