This is the current discussion being held with parents...

Then (pre-portal):

1) Recruit HS Players
2) Recruit DI, DII, DIII transfers
3) Recruit JUCO
4) Recruit International

Now (post-portal):

1) Re-recruit your players
2) Recruit the Portal
3) Recruit JUCO
4) Recruit International
5) Recruit Post Grad
6) Recruit HS Players

What jumps out?

In the DMV, HS recruiting for top area players to private schools and even public schools is a big thing, and this has also changed significantly if you’re not a 4/5* player. This impacts things all the way down to fourth grade (sad to say) because parents are still operating under “Then” vice “Now”. Kids playing down, re-classifying, transferring schools, trying to position themselves for college recruitment has all changed. Kids that were easily low DI, DII and DIII aren’t even getting sniffs. Crazy!

Just shows there is a lot of talent to get but in this environment it is going to take deep pockets and a lot of coaching resources, ie time. If NIL money is taxed then Blue, high tax states are at a disadvantage. Most already cope with lousier weather than southern states. Not an excuse just a fact. We can no longer tout being on Big Monday across the country on a steady basis for exposure, we have a great facility and some resources, but we have a lot of ground to cover. In this environment it might be wise to have the NCAA allow another coach or two for recruiting coverage.
