I know the box score shows us being crushed on the boards but in watching the game it sure did not feel like it. I was shocked to see the margin at the end because it really felt like we were holding our own.

Good post... Rebounds alone if they are not turned into points don't hurt as much. This is also a testament to Syracuse's tremendous defense.

Kris Joseph needs to get his butt on the wing and help with the rebounding. The center position is doing alright, but when we play Joseph at the 4 with CJ Fair on the floor we get crushed because KrisJo doesn't rebound well enough. That guy should be averaging 7-8 rebounds a game instead probably average 4-5 a game, and those 2-3 possessions hurt. Our best rebounding unit is Melo-Christmas-Fair-Waiters-Triche.

It sure felt to me watching that we would be crushed in the box score. Loose balls and alertness...oy. VERY fortunate to get a W.

I had the exact opposite feeling; felt as if we lost every loose ball...actually commented that our rebounding is criminally bad.

I knew we were getting creamed and was happy to see KJ get the boards when he did.
Kris got some when we were struggling to hold a lead in the second half.

I can't agree on that one. It seemed that if we did get our hands on the ball it was easily stripped away.As reported the guards weren't getting into position around the free throw line and paint. Getting the ball into transition wasn't happening with any kind of regularity. Thats the way I saw it and we did get an extremely favorable no call on that goal tend. My feeling is that I have seen way too often our teams being screwed and losing to bad officiating so I calls it even. The real tough part is to remember this the next time we get shafted by the refs.

CJ needs to start rebounding because he's playing the 4 when he and joseph are on the floor. Only 3 rebounds in 26 min southerland had 4 in 17 plus as jim said guards need to rebound the long misses.

To a degree, the steals caused on D and the relative lack of TO's on O mitigate some of the lack of rebounding and possibly make it "feel" like it's not that bad. But...this is the poorest rebounding team at SU I can remember. Fortunately, this looks like the BEST defensive team SU has ever had, and that is the frustrating part (need a stronger word). Ironically, the fact the D is so good is because the cover so much ground, they are out of position to rebound. The real problem with defensive rebounding efficiency rest with the Centers, including Fab.

Is it a tragic flaw? I think it will be when the do-or-die pressure of tournament time places more pressure on the O to be more "perfect."

That interesting...as I found myself just cursing at the TV and yelling for our guards to get engaged. Welsh was pointing this out continuously during his color commentary.

On a separate note, it was so blantantly obvious listening to Welsh that he is an SU homer. :) It was nice to hear someone in the media talking SU up so much. I can't recall exactly the moment or what he actual said, but he made a comment where you would've thought we were up by a dozen or more points...I think we were up like two.

I thought it felt like the box score. Keita could have had 20 boards but every ball went off his hands and was grabbed by a WV player.

that's funny I found myself constantly yelling, "get a in rebound" at the TV the whole game

I do a ton of yelling at times. For me its mostly during football games. The thing that really pisses me me is they don't effn listen to what I'm telling them what to do in order to win a freaking game. My favorite "trick play" they rarely ever use is( passing on first down) instead of ramming it up the middle for an occasional 4 yards.

from the Bilas power rating: 'Cuse gets 19.5 points a game from transition and 29% of points TOs...each plays a role in getting less rebounds as we are taking some risk to generate TOs and guards and KJ leaving early for transition points...apparently JB is content with that! Would you rather we increase our board totals or for us to continue to be a TO machine and garner transition points...not sure these are not intwined.
