The title may be misleading, ultimately, I'm comparing different aspects of the 2015 and 2011 recruiting classes. 2011 was Marrone's 3rd recruiting class, 2nd full. Likewise this will be Shafer's 3rd recruiting class, 2nd full. Now here's the disclaimer, we all know reported offers are suspect at times, as are a million other things we can debate. Early commitments and their recruiting process slowing afterwards, bla, bla bla. I deciphered the information the best I could from all the known data represented on TOS's. Basically I wanted to see if there was a significant difference in anything we're doing on the recruiting front. The tale of the tape. Commitments listed: 2015 - 25... 2011 - 26... D-IA offers & P5 Offers. 2011: 81 & 49 2015: 120 & 62 National Ranking: 2011 / 2015 Riv@ls: 76 / 56 $cout: 51 / 45 24/7: 60 / 57 E$PN: NA/NA (Only list Top - 40.) Avg. Rating: (E$PN's avg. rating does not include NR players) 2011 / 2015 Riv@ls: 2.46 / 2.52 $cout: 2.5 / 2.77 24/7: .806 / .821 E$PN: 75.21 (8 NR Players) / 74.04 (2 NR Players) The STAR Debate: 2011 / 2015 Riv@ls: 12 - 3 Stars : 14 - 2 Stars / 13 - 3 Stars : 12 - 2 Stars $cout: 13 - 3 Stars : 13 - 2 Stars / 1 - 4 Star : 18 - 3 Star : 7 - 2 Star 24/7: 18 - 3 Star : 8 - 2 Star / 21 - 3 Star / 4 - 2 Star E$PN: 12 - 3 Star : 6 - 2 Star : 8 - NR / 22 - 3 Star : 1 - 2 Star : 2 - NR Again, million ways to poke holes in the data. And, as many here know, I'm not big on recruiting site rankings. But, I do enjoy the debate and to see how the data is trending. I'm a data guy. This is the best way I know how to quantify it. I think this shows that there is an undeniable increase in the perception of the recruits we're getting. Namely, more individuals who've received more attention on the recruiting trail. I feel like in 2011, even though a large number of that class went on to be significant contributors, were far less heralded. That being said we went head to head with other P5 Programs on 10 of our 26 signees. This year, we went head to head with other P5 Programs on from what I can gather 12 of our 25. Significantly more recruits had multiple D-I offers besides us in 2015 though. In 2011 we were the only reported IA offer for 10 of our signees In 2015 we were the only reported IA offer for 4 of our commitments. There was alot less Akron, Temple and Umass involved along with the MAC this season than there was in 2011. One other thing to keep in mind is schools like Connecticut, Cincinnati, South Florida and Temple counted as other BCS offers in 2011 and they did not in 2015. That would've made a significant difference in the outcome.
