Who was responsible for spotting the talent from 06 - 13 that led to Devo, Flynn, Donte, Scoop, Rick, Fair, Fab Melo, Waiters, JSouth, MCW, Grant?

It certainly wasn't anyone on the staff now based on what we have brought in since. Was Rob Murphy the driving force behind all that talent evaluation?

Lydon is literally the only player on this team.

Murphy was here between 04-11, before that Troy Weaver from 2000-2004.

Weaver will probably be a GM before the 2010s are done and I believe has already turned down a GM job in the NBA.

You even missed some - Triche, KrisJo, AO, etc.

Moral of the story - you can't hit on every recruit, so when at the same time you have guys leave early (Ennis, McCullough, Mali) and you miss on guys, that is a bad, bad combination.

You know what, I agree 100% and don't expect them to hit on all of them. But if you recruit a BASKETBALL PLAYER and you miss, you still have a basketball player who can be serviceable. I think we've gone another route.

I think both freshmen that are playing right now are good players, this class so far looks decent, they're honestly the last to blame for the product on the court right now. However, all things considered, both '13 and '14 classes are huge bust, and you can probably throw in '12 class too. The "good" players from those classes didn't even play all that good and they all bounced early and the rest were just ridiculously bad. Out last great recruiting class was that 2011 class. So the gradual decline of the program since 2013 is not all that surprising.

Good post.

The 13 and 14 classes really killed us.

13
Ennis - left a year or 2 earlier than expected. Led to a terrible 15 season

BJ - Needed time to put on weight, but because of scollie reductions we couldn't wait. Would love to have him
now

Roberson - Had a good 10 game stretch to end last year. Outside of that. Nothing

Bus - Enough said

Chino - Enough said

14
McCollough - Bounced after 1 year. Probably expected to be 1 and done, but Roberson never developing made it hurt

Kaleb - Enough said. Might actually start on his team though.

You can have 1 and dones if you are Duke or UK and you have the next batch of 1 and dones lined up. Or you can have them if the other recruits you mix in as program players end up panning out.

We can't recruit like Duke and UK, so we fall into the latter group. Our program players didn't pan out, so this is the result of Ennis, McC, Mali and Grant leaving before we expected.

Yes, i know Grant would not still be here and Ennis was never expected to be here 4 years, but 2015 is when the decline started. The year after they left
