Please note this doesn't separate football from basketball, but some interesting information. Also note it's from the Dept. of Ed reports, so take it with a grain of salt..

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-teams-spend-the-most-and-least-on-recruiting

In the Big 12, TCU ($608,804) and Oklahoma State ($491,511) are under the average, while in the ACC, it’s just Syracuse ($640,519). In the Pac-12, Oregon State ($699,144), Utah ($697,175), Colorado ($607,407) and Washington State ($563,478) each spent less than the average.

Income driven. I'm willing to bet that goes up 50% with ACC money vs. BE money.

It would make a great analysis project for some Sports Mgmt students to look at the effectiveness of the spending. Spending wisely with the increased revenue is going to be crucial for SU. For example, should more money be spent on coaches visits, hiring another Eric White, or giving some color/life to the IPF?

This stuff really interests me as I think it's just too simple to say spend more on recruiting.

My guess? More Eric Whites. Our facilities are good enough now not to be a liability, and the off-campus housing is a selling point. Coaches can only do so much travelling and they spend enough time on the road as it is, and we have been sending a ton of hand-written mail. Eric Whites get you the younger human face/contact for the school, time spent making recruiting materials (photoshops, etc.). If I had any suggestions, it would be to get at least one Erica White on that support staff.

Well we will spend more on recruiting. Not all but more.

Where's the hidden money that boosters provide for under the table recruiting efforts? Is it a separate category for SEC schools?

Definitely agree with adding a staff member in the recruiting office as I think building relationships with recruits is an area of importance.

I'd like to see some more money spent on facilities- cafeteria, and lounge especially. I wish the IPF had included these for use by all SU athletes. The current ones are alright, but I don't see them as standing out among our peers. Someone else mentioned getting Borkowski to do graphics for the interior of the IPF and I think it's a great idea.
