Recruiting rules question

Does anyone know if there can be contact with verbally committed players between the day they verbal and signing day (or the day they start at school if an early arrival)?

If yes then I'd hope the powers that be have our celeb athletes, ex players and other prominent folks helping the staff out with occassional contacts to reinforce the great decision they made, pimp the school and fend off any of the inevitable poachers out there. Does anyone know on this?

I don't think there can be contact. The 10 full-status coaches are the only ones who are supposed to be able to recruit, and to make contact. The rules about contacting via public social media seem to be pretty loose (in that they aren't enforced), but maybe the NCAA would take a closer look if famous athletes started contacting recruits.

I think it's even a no-no to plan to have famous alums on campus to meet players on recruiting visits, whether or not the kid is verbally committed.

I don't think verbal commitments have any special status from a regulatory viewpoint, they are treated the same as uncommitted players (which they still are). The verbal just helps get some of the coaches and websites off the players back and (should) reserve them a spot on signing day.
