Just looking back at some transfers we lost and wondering if they managed to accomplish much after leaving Syracuse. Feel free to add your own transfers to the conversation but I had a few in mind.

TAUREAN THOMPSON

Liked this guy, added offense to a team that needed it. Always wanted him to have more fire and more interest in playing D but I really thought he'd be good for us if he stuck around.

MATHEW MOYER

Really wanted this kid to work out for us, seemed to have a great attitude but it never really translated into a strong game.

JALEN CAREY

So much hype and potential not sure what went wrong.

Cool summary -- really interesting to see how each player's respective career unfolded.

Thompson's mom was a loon. She did that kid a massive disservice by steering him to Seton Hall to play for her -- ahem -- boyfriend. He had potential, but ended up having a bust of a career. 3 total games played over his final two years of eligibility -- what a waste.

Where did Matthew Moyer eventually end up on his second transfer? George Washington, I think? If so, he found his level -- 10 ppg / nearly 10 rpg shooting 50% from the floor is pretty solid. Looks like he ended his career on a high note.

What went wrong with Carey IMO is that he couldn't dribble. It was Josh Wright part 2 -- kid had elite speed / athleticism, but couldn't dribble down his chin. Tough to play guard, and especially point guard, when that's the case. Looks like he ended up being a pretty good shooter from three-point range, but didn't do much else. Those assist totals... ugh... and this was a guy who was hand picked by the staff to replace Tyler Ennis. Err... Kaleb Joseph... who also couldn't dribble.

Nice that someone posts that not all transfers from SU made mistakes.

Thompson - Was good as a freshman. Hate to say it but Seton Hall has had much more talented players than us recently and some very good forwards. Got recruited over there when he didn't improve. Wouldn't have happened at SU because the coach was intent on gutting the roster so his kid could be leading scorer. Worked like a charm Buddy has an NBA deal.

Moyer- Great athlete OK basketball player injury robbed him of his best attribute athleticism. Pretty much a no brainer for him to move on.

Carey- Great athlete not great at basketball. He might put it together this year and have a good senior season.

Thompson was good offensively, horrible defensively. His mother was his next biggest issue. His college career was a mess. No way did he leave because he got recruited over. He left because his mom was negotiating with Holloway exchanging phone calls all while he was at SU. (241 phone calls between Holloway and his mom in fact) The NCAA sanctioned both Seton Hall and Holloway for tampering. The kid ended up a hot mess even transferring to Detroit-Mercy his senior year and playing 1 minute over just 2 games before leaving. Actually a very sad story.

Did Hughes really have 7 years between junior and senior years? I don't think I've seen that outside of the movie Necessary Roughness.

No he also played at Rutgers in 90-91 something messed up about his stats where I originally found them.

In case anyone cared. Here are his 90-91 stats. It was harder to grab these than I expected. I guess one of the negatives of being a Scarlet Knight……not many people paying attention.
