I avoided looking at any post-game chatter until this afternoon--I saw the game and did not need to be reminded of it. However, in viewing this board, I see a lot griping about the refs. They were horrendous but called strange fouls on both teams. It hurt us, yes, but we lost the game because our short chippy shots were not dropping. I did not count them, but at least a half dozen layups rolled off the rim--game over. Now, if someone at the game with a good view tells me that OSU was giving a shove on the hip every time we took one of those shots, without being called for it, then I would blame the refs. That is the technique that Notre Dame uses, and they get away with it.

Fun year, sad ending, but now I get my life back.

You have to take care of what you can control. Open layups fall under that category. Did the reffing suck? Yes. Did it affect SU more than OSU? Yes. But if we drop those layups, or simply don't turn it over 3 out of 4 possessions under 3 mins, we win the game. Period.

You nailed my feelings. Great run they had without Fab.

Some of the missed layups and turnovers can be attributed to the officiating. We rushed shots because of it and when their players can mug ours without a call it's going to result in turnovers. I thought OSU looked more comfortable throughout, but somehow when you looked at the score we were right there the whole time. If Sullinger doesn't draw a foul everytime he's breathed on while being allowed to plow over Keita, those are a few points they don't have. If the "and 1" is called properly when Triche goes to the basket instead of the horrible charge call thats an easy 3 points there. In a 7 point game those matter.

When you turn the ball over 5-6 times in the last 7 minutes of the game, you can't really expect to win games against a team like Ohio State. That said, the officiating was atrocious. Bad calls going both ways IMO.

Never leave it up to the refs. We needed to play better to win .. I'm sure we will be back here again and do better in the future.

we agree.

i chalk up the missed layups to being uptight or overly anxious... no other explanation.
