The only thing not mentioned so far in the role of Board of Trustees is that, like any organizational structure, there is an ultimate authority that is accountable for the organization. The pyramide structure, that is almost always employed, requires this. That being the case, The Board of Trustees has the power to fire, as well as hire, the Chancellor, who in turn is the immediate supervisor of the Director of Athletics, who is the immediate supervisor of the Head football coach. If there is anyone that does not recognize this, there isn't anything that can be said to educate. It is incredibly naive to believe that the Board of Trustees does not have enormous power to influence or force decisions. If anyone has ever served as an executive officer or on a board of directors, you would know this. There is constant power and control that goes on at this level and any CEO keeps close contact with their superiors to gauge what the majority wants. If they do not, or wish to go a separate way, they will not last in that position!  'Nuff said!
