I understand what he’s trying to do, but you can seriously ask if that’s still possible in today’s day and age. When you don’t have control of guys who hit the portal you have to use both tools. Fran was more aggressive the first year. I would try to replicate that more than year 2. When you lose guys you hit on like Watson and any other HS recruit that starts early, or develop into an all-ACC player, it’s going to be a sweat every year. Fran said himself if he coached 20 years ago he would kill it because he would be stacking all that talent. In 2025 you can’t count on the following years potential starters.

We also need a huge injection of talent on the defensive side of the ball. Let’s hope the young guys that are playing now, first stay, and next continue to develop.  Other than that we have holes everywhere. Entire DL needs to be replaced and we need some of these young guys we spent all these roster spots on to develop and make a mark next season.

Will be an interesting off season.
