Syracuse University Football has had 7 head coaches since 1949. The following are their first two year records (in order of winning percentage for those years), number of years coached at SU and career winning percentage at SU. Added in the two years prior to each coaches arrival.

1. Paul Pasqualoni - 20-4 (14 seasons) (.644) (15-8-2 two years prior to arrival)

2. Scott Shafer - 9-9 (1+seasons) (.500) (13-12 two years prior to arrival)

3. Doug Marrone - 12-13 (4 seasons) (.500) (5-19 two years prior to arrival)

4. Ben Schwartzwalder - 9-10 (25 seasons) (.626) (4-14 two years prior to arrival)

5. Frank Maloney - 8-14 (7 seasons) (.410) (7-15 two years prior to arrival)

6. Dick MacPherson - 6-15-1 (10 seasons) (.586) (12-11 two years prior to arrival)

7. Greg Robinson - 5-18 (4 seasons) (.213) (12-12 two years prior to arrival)

Thought maybe some data could add some perspective to all of the recent talk about coaching at the HC and assistant coach level at Syracuse.

Glad there wasn't social media at the beginning of the Schwartzwalder and MacPherson eras or we may have no history to speak of at all.

Adding in what the team's record was 2-4 years before each coach's first 2 years might add some necessary context.

On face value, I'm not sure how relevant the 1st two year record is. Every coach listed inherited a different situation, and was coaching with players his predecessor recruited. I would also add that during the tenure of the coaches listed, we have competed as an Independent, member of the Big East, and now the ACC. As a result, I think the initial expectations of the SU administration and fans was different for each coach.
