The Bowl games put a dent in their air of invincibility

Possibly their 3 top teams gave up:
52 points (Texas A&M)
45 points (Alabama)
34 points (Auburn)

52 points was given up by Duke...do you know something here?

Not to nitpick, but A&M was at best the 6th best team in the SEC, as they finished 4th in the West and were also worse than Mizzou and South Carolina. And I agree that overall, SEC defenses are not what they are made out to be, but their offenses have gotten a lot better. Auburn dropping 31 on FSU is quite an accomplishment. Remember that the same Clemson offense that carved Syracuse up at the Dome only scored 14 at home against FSU.

Texas A&M played in the defense optional Big 12, so they didn't come into the league with a dominating defense. They reminded me of McNabb's senior season (1998). Just give both of those teams average defenses and they chop at least 2 losses of the ledger.

I'm not sure South Carolina wasn't the best team in the SEC this year. They beat Clemson and UCF and Missouri. Nobody in the SEC has that kind of resume. They lost a tight one to a pretty healthy UGA squad and dropped a bad one to Tennessee, but frankly, they're the only team in the SEC that proved they were really damn good.

And Auburn would have given up a lot more than 34 if Jimbo had realized Auburn had our signals sooner. :)

Once we realized it and started shielding our signals with towels, our offense got back to typical levels. Our yardage per play increased 75% when we brought out the towels.

Why didn't Jimbo change the signs in the month you had off? You'd think that would have been the first thing they'd do, some coaches change that stuff every week.
