The bridemaids were lovely and the grooms were solid (section 302 represent. especially Lincolncuse, who rocked good posture with a good deal of elan). And DCCuse, the dog master, was quite debonair in a high pressure role. For those not in the know, J & N's famous dogs were the ring bearers and DCCuse was the dog handler/agent/masseuse/administrative assistant. Great job Rick. Solid. We were given lavender to throw at the bride and groom. It was purple and quite lavendery. Solid. The bride and groom wrote their own vows, which were funny and touching. Both have a good sense of humor. Jeremy's vows were interrupted by a horn from a passing car, to which I believe he ad libbed. blaming it on a Rutgers fan. The reception was held at the Sheraton, only a couple of blocks from the Lily Pond. Many of the Syracusefan.com people gathered in the bar there to watch World Cup games while the photos were taken. It was an interesting time to visit the Sheraton. which was filled with black SUVs and burly security guards with ear pieces and sunglasses. It turns out there was a triathlon scheduled for the next time and members of the Bahrain royal family and their large entourage were staying there, prepping for the event. I don't think they get out much. Anyway, after a time, the reception started at the Sheraton on the second floor. It was an open bar and there were a lot of SU fans in the house, so much alcohol was consumed. I can only say that the ginger ale was of a high quality and a good vintage. The napkins were orange and blue and had an image of Otto on them. And J & N arranged for 2 large ice sculptures. One was clearly an Ice Otto. Some thought the other one was a pineapple basket but I think it was a diamond ring. If not a diamond ring, definitely a pineapple ring. Regardless, it was cool. Literally. Hors d'oeuvres were served. I remember mushroom caps stuffed with a rather hot sausage. Very nice. There was also something that featured a slice of some kind of meat and some salsa/pico di gallo/substance-like-that. It was good as well. I believe they also served scallops wrapped with bacon but maybe that was a hallucination from too much GA. They also had a variety of veggies, dips, crackers, and pepperoni, were also were quite tasty. Solid. After a time, we were ushered into the main room of the second floor, where dinner awaited. It consisted of a classic Caesar Salad and a buffet dinner featuring some wonderful prime rib, seafood provencal (this means from the Provence region of France), Chicken Francois (Vive la France; it was good), garlic mash potatoes, tortellini carbonara, roasted seasonal vegetables, brocolli with bacon, and fresh mozzarella with tomatoes and basil. There was something there for everyone and I think everyone enjoyed it. Dessert was wedding cake (chocolate cake with a light colored frosting, maybe buttermilk based?) and a variety of cookies. J & N were forced to kiss many times. There was a brief dust up with wedding cake that will otherwise remain unreported. The dancing was solid, at least as far as weddings in upstate NY goes. No one was arrested or even charged with a crime. Props to everyone involved in planning the wedding (I think Mrs DCCuse was a key player here), congratulations to the bride and groom and my report would be lacking it I failed to point out this event prompted a rare display of the famous Bees' orange bowtie. I also should note that cto repped the color orange as well with a wonderful orange dress. Solid job peeps. Anyway, in summary, great to see some many friends in the summer.
