I never udnerstood why he ahd to move from Cleveland. Each team's share of the TV money exceeded the salary cap and the Browns led the NFL in tickets sold every year.
But his role in the Ernie Davis saga was a positive one. He wanted Ernie to get a shot on the field when he was in remission but Paul brown didn't want anybody to tell him who to play and refused. It was a factor in model's eventually firing him, from what i've read. A very good movie could be made about Ernie's time in Cleveland.
