RIP Gale Sayers

All-time great and Hall of Famer Gale Sayers has died at 77 from dementia.

He led a ranked team into Syracuse in 1964 for Floyd Little's first home football game (freshmen weren't eligible then) and my first game as a new student. Floyd ran for 5 touchdowns and over 250 total yards. SU won 38-6. An unforgettable first SU game for me.

RIP, Gale. :(

Have a signed helmet from him that I've had stored away for a bunch of years. Guess it's time to pop it on ebay today. Yes, I realize that's insensitive.

That music automatically pops into my head which always brings sad thoughts. Imagine what his career would have been without injuries. His book was one of the 1st I read when I was a kid. I might need to dig up a copy of it.

We lose another legend to 2020. He was Barry Sanders before there was Barry Sanders such a shame because injuries took many great years from him. Rip.
