RIP Marty Schottenheimer

Really great coach who just couldn't quite get over the hump in the playoffs with lots of maddening home losses. Took the Browns to multiple AFC title games, had the Chiefs in the playoffs almost the entire decade of the 90s, and had a couple fantastic Charger teams in the 2000s.

IMO, HOF coach.

Harry Carson credits Marty for being the reason why he is Hall.

always liked and rooted for Marty's teams, except the redskins.

Firing Schottenheimer after just one 8-8 season (with a strong finish) so he could hire Spurrier was the worst of Daniel Snyder's many terrible moves.

An all timer. His Chiefs defenses in the 90's were so much fun.

Good coach that had some terrible luck and could never get over the hump. Likeable guy. Rip coach.

Really, really good coach who ran into bad luck during the playoffs.

He was asked at a press conference, possibly when he was hired in DC, which came first winning or confidence. He replied that winning came first because the more you won, the more confidence you built up that you could overcome adversity.
