Would he have been a walk on to the freshman or varsity team? Don't know why, but I never really associated those old teams with having walk ons.

I know his son Don and his grandson Dan who is the Lax coach at Richmond.

The reason i ask is because My Grandfather was a freshman the same year. I'm curious if they played together.

I actually brought Mike to the attention of SU so he could be honored that year. Long story as he should have been honored the year before as we supposedly honored the oldest living football veteran player That year, except someone brought it to my attention that Mike was the oldest living. We arranged for him to be honored the next season. One of his grandkids sent me all kinds of great videos that day as I was here in AZ. A very good friend of mine was involved with Mike in the Solvay Veteran's group.
