RIP Stuart Scott...

He started when I was in my early 20's at ESPN so he shaped how sports was reported after Bermann for me. Legendary sportscaster. Will miss him.

RIP

He seemed by all accounts to be a class act, very sad. Have a family member and a few friends battling it now.

That's depressing. Nice heartfelt tribute from his long time SportsCenter anchor-mate, Rich Eisen this morning on NFLN.

When he first came up, I remember thinking he was one of those guys I thought would annoy me away from watching. But then his catch phrases were always in your head, boo-yah, cooler than the other side of the pillow. They became part of the daily sports language. He quickly became likable to me.

He was a good one. Courageous fighter against cancer. RIP.

You can see what kind of man he was by looking into the faces of those who knew him and listening to their words on ESPN today.

Eisen mentioned "the haters". I hate that term. Just because you react negatively to someone whose style you're not used to doesn't mean you 'hate' them.

That is sad indeed. He was a good man and a good sports anchor. Helped bring sports and ESPN really into the popularity it is today.

Back in 1993 ...

500,000 people would die with cancer ... 1 in 4 would become afflicted with the disease ... its been 21 years and it needs to change ... just also rewatched Jimmy V's speech ... to this day it still rings with truth and sadness ... Laugh, think and cry.

Good point. I didn't hate him but he is definitely one of the top reasons I stopped watching Sportcenter. Sad to hear about his death. Condolences to his family.

I wasn't a huge fan either ... but I wasn't a "hater" either. I spent time watching the videos on ESPN that were posted in memory of him ... as a person he seemed to be top notch ... as a father I totally get his message. Its sad when such a sick and twisted disease takes good people from us.

Everything about his death is terrifying and sad and his bravery and optimism will be his greatest impact but his impact on tv sports was still a net negative for me. Not as bad as olbermann and patrick but I just want the highlights. Became too much about the guy talking. Now I go straight to league highlights to see what I want because espn wastes so much time

But seeing his girls wrecks me

Respected him and his work, prayers to his family...now on the other hand could Stephen A Smith just go far far away!

Have him take Cowturd and Skip Bayless with him.
