Some felt he was too over the top but I always liked his enthusiasm and personality. His voice more than any other in recent years, seemed to be the "voice of ESPN" to me. And from the tribute on the network today, he seems like quite a guy. The tearful tributes reminded me of those for Arthur Ashe, Jim Valvano and Tom Mees.
