Well aware of what we have coming back. And you’re missing my point. I don’t know why I bother to respond since we always disagree. Fine. You go you’re way. I go my way. I’m not saying the defense wasn’t effective. Very effective, duh. Yes I’ll still call the zone a gimmick. Any zone. A gimmick stands out because it IS different. Barely anybody uses it. I don’t like it. Once in awhile to mix things up? Sure. That’s my personal preference and obviously it’s a nuiance/aesthetic issue with me. Nobody says the coach can’t coach it or it doesn’t work! News flash. One can still be a diehard fan of the team but not like the exclusive 2-3. I’m sure there are Georgia Tech diehards who don’t like their gimmick offense they throw out there every Saturday in football. Back to my point you miss. Yet, with all the effectiveness of the defense we were in one possession games with pretty much everybody. Sparty shot 26% from the floor and I think 17% from 3 and they NEARLY WON! One cannot be considered a good or very good team, IMO, if the offense is that bad where these other teams are still in these games til the end. When JB says (paraphrasing) that we don’t get assists because we don’t pass the ball; that’s not a good team. Obviously this all should get better this season. Even if the strategy was to hold the ball (yes it worked at times), stall/save energy, whatever; that doesn’t correlate necessarily to a good basketball team in my eyes. To do nothing all possession except hold it and/or pass back and forth, until Tyus or Oshae go 1-on-1 and we pray for something good. So, in summary. Defense last year...good...excellent in the Tourney. Offense last year...terrible...terrible in the Tourney. Thus you get an average team if one finds a median. Just a reminder that we had 14 regular season losses and 10 conference losses. We took advantage of an opportunity but were an average ‘play in game’ team as usually most of them are who get sent to Dayton (and I was there). Good enough for ya?
