Aside from Conference Tournament time, the only time I miss The Big East.

Instead of Cuse/Gtown or Cuse/UConn leading up to the Duke/UNC game, we have Cuse/L'Ville.

Big game , no doubt, but we don't have a rivalry with Louisville. You can't run a highlight reel of nostalgic moments or talk about how much the fan bases hate each other. Hopefully with time that will come.

However, no amount of time will make us Kentucky or them UConn or G'town.

I personally consider Louisville a rival, but more one of mutual respect as opposed to hatred.

Pitt should be our rivalry week. Nothing will compare to Georgetown, it just can't.

But ever since they built the Pete and breathed some life into that program, Pitt has been one of those games where you find yourself in the middle of it saying I really want to beat these ***ers. And it has the history, for whatever that's worth. (more during the Sean Miller, Jerome Lane days).

I agree with E15. I think of Louisville as peer program and a good rival. I'm about 1000x happier having Louisville as a rival that -ing Pizzleberger and/or BC like the ACC assigned us. Programs who have achieved exactly nothing-point-nothing ever and likely never will. At least ESPN has put us with another elite program and we have had several huge matchups with them since they joined the Big East. Two BE Championship games, both knocked each other off when the other was ranked #1, HOF coaches, dirty programs*, etc.

*Unfortunately it is part of the narrative now.

I wish I could agree but Lousiville, to me, is just another game on the schedule. One that usually has a number in front of the name which gives it more significance.

The only memorable moment I have of our games was MCW flying in for a dunk a few years ago.

I already consider Duke more of a rival than Louisville and we just started playing them.

U just summed up any storz game.

The rival was gtown, Hop inexplicably lost to them too this year, but I digress.

I have no problem with lville replacing storz.

After all...storz is/was/will forever be...useless.

MCW built the rivalry with UL. Its there.

Our rivalries need to be rebuilt. Louisville or Pitt, maybe BC if they could compete, are the natural ones now.

There is nothing natural about lville, give me Virginia.

Well natural because we're both new to the ACC, national powers and there's a connection with the coaches. Not geographically, I think in today's collage world we're beyond geography, or we'd have Penn St on the schedule, lol.

in the last days of the big east, SU/LVille was becoming quite the rivalry. had we met in the NC game, even more so.

if the BE was still alive, SU/LVille would be the biggest "new" rivalry for us

Besides the fact that we have been playing them for over ten years. So far why would we even consider Virginia a rival. Virginia Tech is more of a rival than Virginia based on previous competition.

I've always looked forward to playing Louisville in both Hoops and Football. I can't stand Pitino so I always look forward to playing against them. Just like against Big John and Georgetown and Calhoun and Yukon.

LOL you really don't want Hop as the next HC that some nice passive aggressive. Is he more Hanlan or Coughlin from JB/Parcells?

Watching the "Big Monday" game between NCS and VA you would not know we would even be playing a game on Wednesday. All I've heard is the Wednesday game between UNC and DUKE. Granted, that is akin to SU/GTN, but you would think our game would get a little exposure since they are plugging all their "rivalry week" games. Is it because of our situation last year and the Cardinals situation this year? No respect for the ORANGE right now I guess :(

Funny, as I'm watching all the Rivalry Week commercials during the UVA/NCState games, I was not even thinking about our game against L'ville as part of that. I was actually thinking too bad we don't really have a true rival anymore

This is what made me post this. It was always Syracuse/Gtown leading up to UNC/Duke and they promoted both games. You wouldn't even know we played at 7 unless you're a Syracuse or Louisville fan.

I guess ESPN forgot it was rivalry week. No top 25 teams playing a major rivalry game Monday, Tuesday or Thursday.

On Wednesday we have:
Duke - UNC
Nova - Temple
Arizona St - Arizona

Basically its Duke playing UNC, and let's call it rivalry week.

To be fair Michigan-Ohio State is big rivalry game. Both schools hate each other in every sport. Also Florida-Georgia have a huge football rivalry and if Georgia was ever good in hoops consistently it would carry over to hoops. Those schools are rivals as well.

Tonight was a joke and I bet Thursday is as well.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. We have a 19-post thread trying to figure out who our rival is ... on the BASKETBALL BOARD. I still absolutely hate this move. I know, I know, I'm a moron. But I miss the BE every single time I see us playing a florida school or clempson or GT. I know the BE was watered down, but I'm not sure how people who grew up in the NE don't miss seeing us playing those schools. I'm still going to the BE tournament this year, not because I give a s--t about who wins but because basically all of my buddies went to one of those schools or at least grew up rooting for them. And by the way, Maryland leaving the ACC absolutely crushed us from a rivalry standpoint.

Since we joined the ACC there's only one rivalry I really care about and that's beating Duke at Cameron. Oh wait, we did that! Great season in my mind! Anything after this is icing on the cake.

I just scanned the top 25, so I missed the Michigan-Ohio St game.
