last 17 games

first ten games of that stretch, 10.6 rebounds per game

last 7 games, 5 rebounds.

What

He's lost the spirit for the game. The only played he seemed to show it tonight was the steal he got near the end.

He did what I hate the most - foul a guy and let him score. He needs to take some time and really evaluate if playing basketball is something he's truly passionate about.

hmmm. finished 9th overall in the ACC in total rebounding and 2nd overall for offensive boards. what a sucky year.

But thats all he did. It's 5 on 4 out there on offense when hes in, and hes not much better on defense.

He should have led the country in offensive boards. That is his only job according to JB. And if you don't think he disappointed this year, you simply aren't qualified to evaluate basketball.

And I was his biggest supporter here. He let me down.

5 on 3. cooney has the worst pps. and fg%. at least tyler boards.

More offensive boards would have been nice -- but he spent 75% of our time on offense running 30ft out to perimeter to set a pick, then running back to the post/block, then running up again to the perimeter to set another pick.

Truth.

And on defense he's too often racing out to the perimeter to get a hand in the face of a weak side 3 point shooter to actually be able to recover and be in position to box out.

At least when he contests the shot like that he's actually somewhat disruptive. Anyone notice the weird sideswipe thing Mal does when he eventually arrives out there? He hasn't been close once. I think we've got a bit of defensive problem with him next year. Him, Battle (who's simply included here because the zone will be brand spanking new to him), and Howard are going to cause some serious gray hairs with this crew.

Yes there will be some growing pains. Howard has the length to be disruptive and another offseason working at it I think he'll be fine (I actually thought he was good today on D). Who knows how Battle will be and who knows if Mali will end up playing the top or on the wing. We'll see how good Chukwu is -- if he can control the middle it changes everything. A good 5 in the zone can mask the other definicies.

You almost have to wonder if he hurt himself in some way?

I mean, this kind of collapse isn't entirely shocking, but there didn't seem to be much fight any of him at the end. He used to seem like he could elevate over people, not so much for the last month or two. Who knows though - kid's always been an enigma.

Howard was okay on D today. I'm a big fan of him as well. Every one of our guards gave up uncontested threes today, so it's impossible to do anything but spread the blame around. Mali scares me though. Very much.

Mali playing up top? Or just in general? :)

In general, I think he's late on his rotations, contests shots poorly, and doesn't rebound well. He relies too much on what I call his "high school hops" to get rebounds instead of ever really attempting to box out.
