If he had been able to back his opinion up with legitimate, reasonable points (that didn't sound made up and uninformed), I don't think so many would have such an issue with him. The big outcry didn't come until after the interview. It was more eye brow raising. Then he spoke to "defend" his position, and it was pretty clear he didn't know anything about this Syracuse team. So making such definitive statements about them irritates the hardcore fans.
Notice no one is going after the other four writers who have UK #1 ahead of Syracuse.
