Round of Applause for Baye

Baye even though not the most talented, has always found a way to get the job done. This his senior year, one thing we can be sure of he will never quit, and he won't allow his team mates to. Lets just enjoy him for his final season, we might never see his likes in an SU uniform again. Notice his teams in the NCAA, have done pretty well, and no jokes about 1 and done in the tournament lately, 2-1,3-1,4-1, not to shabby.

Not just for the putback, but he made some nice passes from the high post, notably the one late in the game that led to Christmas' two-hander.

Yes i remember at least two great passes from baye in the high low. You could see just from the touch he had on them, that is something he worked on this offseason. I don't recall him making that pass successfully much last year and with that touch.

And really, as much credit as he deserves from making the pass, Rak deserves for getting into position to receive it.

I think another positive is BMK's buy-in to the team concept. I mentioned in the token starter thread about how accepting BMK is of his role. And while there is a strong case to be made that he should be starting, he doesn't seem the type to make an issue of it.

As for never seeing his likes again, I'm not so sure. I think the staff fully realizes what an asset BMK has been as is trying to duplicate this type of success with Chino. I think in a few years Chino will be compared to BMK. And I think that is entirely by design by the staff. I think they have recognized and value the attributes BMK has brought and actively sought this out.

This cannot be understated. IMO, it's guys like Baye that are the reason for our success. JB has the formula. Mix the MCWs and Dions with the James, Brandons, and Baye's...

The next several years look to be the same.

Mix in McCullough (I hope), Roberson, Grant...with Cooney, BJ, Chino, Patterson, etc.

generally agree with the sentiment of your post, but have to point out that his freshman year squad went 1-1, losing to Marquette in the 2nd round. SU has never (yet) made 3 consecutive Sweet 16s . . . but of course they had never made back to back Elite 8s before last year, either.

But Baye takes it a little further. JB had traditionally rewarded upperclassmen with the start. Players like Scoop and Brandon would get the start based on seniority over the likes of hyped frosh like MCW and Dion.

BMK has shown an atitude that allows JB to bring in highly recruited bigs without the damage to team chemistry when the hyped bigs get what could be considered an undeserved start. I'm hoping Chino will have this quality. Then when Rak graduates it will look wide open for a 5 star big and SU will have insurance for the adjustment period.
