SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 13 Syracuse University men's rowing team will host No. 9 Cornell and No. 12 Navy on Saturday morning for the Goes Trophy and Stagg Cup on the Onondaga Lake Outlet. Racing will begin at 8 a.m. at the James A. Ten Eyck Memorial Boathouse in Liverpool, N.Y. Saturday marks the 60th time that the three programs will compete for the Goes Trophy. A history-filled tradition, Navy has won the hardware for the varsity eight competition 26 times, Cornell has taken home top honors on 22 occasions, and Syracuse has come out victorious 11 times. Syracuse is looking to collect the Goes Trophy for the first time since 2011. "The Goes Trophy is traditionally the one race the alumni seem to care the most about," head coach Dave Reischman said. "It's been going on since the early 1950s. It's always a battle. Cornell and Navy are very much like us, blue-collar crews not afraid to grind it out through the middle of a boat race. It's produced some very spectacular racing over the years." Beginning in 1967, the Stagg Cup has been presented to the team compiling the most points on the day. Navy has won the cup on 27 occasions, Cornell has been victorious 15 times, and Syracuse has won six times. Like the Goes Trophy, Syracuse has not won the Stagg Cup since 2011. Five races will be held on Saturday morning. The day will begin with the Goes Trophy competition, the varsity eight race, at 8 a.m. The second, third, and fourth varsity competitions will follow in 20-minute increments. The freshman eight will conclude the day at 9:20 a.m. Fans can listen to live audio from the race, courtesy of the Syracuse Alumni Rowing Association, here. One can also call 712-432-4418 for updates on their phones. Following racing, trophy presentations will be held at the James A. Ten Eyck Memorial Boathouse at 9:30 a.m. Following the presentation, two boats will be dedicated, honoring Rob and Sue Edson. Schedule of Events Saturday, April 18 First Varsity Eight | 8 a.m. Second Varsity Eight | 8:20 a.m. Third Varsity Eight | 8:40 a.m. Fourth Varsity Eight | 9:00 a.m. Freshman Eight | 9:20 a.m.
