Because it's supposed to be a "non-contact" sport.

Was really hoping they would get rid of th 8 meter free shot. I know nc coach was proposing a penalty with a player up. I’d prefer take the ball out or make it a 12 meter shot but with at least one or two defenders at the eight meter.

They should get rid of the free position shot to an open net.
