On the Sadiq “T” - the sequence of FTs surprised me. I always remember the other team getting the ball after a technical. For this, they shot the live ball FTs after the technical FTs. Is that a change? ( Much better rule than a possible 7 point play.)

I think it depends on the game situation. A team can get a "T" anytime, even when the other team has possession, as they are dead ball whistles. So whoever has the ball gets it back, I believe.

Speaking of 7 point plays, in 1990 when we beat Georgetown in the regular season finale at home, that was the game where John Thompson got tossed, after arguing a foul call on one of his players. Net result was the shooting foul that was initially called, plus two pairs of technical foul shots -- one for each technical foul that led to Thompson getting thrown out of the game. IIRC, we made all six free throws [which was uncharacteristic for our team back then]. Then we got the ball, and Billy Owens hit a three. Swish! 9 point play.

In college basketball, technical foul free throws are shot first, and then the ball goes back to 'the point of interruption', which was the common foul on Sadiq.

In high school basketball, you would shoot free throws in order of occurrence. common foul then technical foul .. all with no one on the line.. Then the ball is given to the non-technical / penalized team at half court.

Just another example of how rules are different at every level.

Big John got 3 techs, one from each of the officials. It took 3 to disqualify back then.

Pretty sure now it's 2 direct Technical fouls or a combo of (2) indirect and one direct technical foul that will get you tossed. Indirect T's typically come from issues with bench personnel.

One of the great memories of my childhood. I was at that game and those T’s turned it all around from being down 14.
