On Wednesday, Feb. 1, join your fellow Rutgers football fans at the RAC for a night of great food, drink, and head coach Greg Schiano’s personal review of the incoming 2012 Rutgers football recruiting class. A long-standing New Jersey tradition, the Beefsteak is an all-you-can-eat-and-drink banquet featuring a prime beef entrée, beer and wine. While guests enjoy the food and beverage, a highlight video of the Scarlet Knights’ 2011 season will be shown, followed by Coach Schiano discussing each incoming recruit's highlight film and answering questions from the audience. A silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind Rutgers memorabilia will also be held.

This is a CAN’T MISS EVENT for the diehard Rutgers football fan! Tickets are $55 for Touchdown Club members and $70 for non-members. Space is limited so please register quickly. The cut-off date for registration is Wednesday, January 25th. Reservations must be made in advance. There will be no tickets sold on walk-up basis. To register today, please visit the Touchdown Club website.

Don't they have a basketball game that night at Providence?

As much as I hate Rutgers, Syracuse should be following suit. This is great for the fans.

LOL dont hold your breath waiting for SU to do anything like this simply isnt there style and makes way to much sense. For some reason everything has to be locked down like fort knox up on the hill.

What are we singing? I don't know the rutgers alma mater.

Would you pay $70 for this?

You can watch Marrone's signing day presser on OAA for free and get the same info. Granted, there's no wine and cheese. :)

you ?have some history we sure dont- we stink it up- we stink it up

I'm guessing this is what the most recent tax hikes in NJ were for.

LOL not necessarily this but it would be nice if SU did something for the fans/season ticket holders/Orange Pack guys. We cant even get these guys to tell us if the Fine lot will be around in 2 years its ridiculous.

The Ernie Davis Club used to have a signing day event for years, but it was discontinued a while back. I don't know why.

I'd still like a tour of the facilities at Manley. Maybe after the remodeling.

I was told at the Pitt game that Marrone doesn't want to do it. He wants to focus all his time and energy on finishing up recruiting. I think this is lame. What does he have to do with putting this program together? The secretarial staff would put all the materials together. He needs to loosen up a little if he plans on being around long. Compared to this time last year, there is very little excitement about next year. Last year we were all pumped up becuase of our showing at the Pinstripe Bowl. With next year's uninspiring home schedule, I think he should be doing as much as possible to get the fan based ramped up. I think season ticket sales are going to tank next year.

I hope this is an uninformed rumor, because building a football program is so much more than x's and o's. When Marrone came in, he seemed to get that... so it wouldn't surprise me if this is simply not true. If it is true, I hope someone swaps Marrone's PLAN with Schiano's PLAN, because I like his a lot better.

they could hold this two weeks late and still get the same effect and have lots of time. i really dont need it to be feb 1st to be informative.

It's very true and from someone who definitely knows. Even the person who told me was very suprised it was cancelled and wondered if anyone knew it had been canceled.

Makes sense. After all, Marrone's only got 364 days to work on the next recruiting class. Why waste a few minutes to talk to the people who pay his salary. :noidea:

I mentioned in another thread that I used to go to them when P was here. They were great. It din't cost $55 because there wasn't a steak dinner, but that was cool. Free snacks, cash bar and lots of highlights and coaches talking about the recruits. There is absolutely no good reason I can think of why we don't do this anymore.

What's to stop someone from calling up and asking ?

You mean fielding a mediocre team after ten years building a program, and despite supposedly superior talent?

I'm sure there will be some wine on the board.

Don't feel bad. 99.9% of NJ residents don't know it either and couldn't hum the RU fight song if offered $500 to do so.

Up until a few years ago, you couldn't find a single piece of Rutgers "gear" in any store on the whole State. That's why they are so desperate to be relevant and to have "rivals".

Their entry into C-USA 2 is a huge blow to their struggle to be relevant in their own State.
