As you and rrblees (I hope I have that right) have pointed out, Huggins did not turn down every other program in the country to sit on the bench at Rutgers.  I get that.  That being said, Williams and Huggins were the only healthy bodies to come out of summer camp, that is a fact.  Williams had done what the staff had asked of him (this winter and spring) and was given the opportunity to play.  He was not even named the #1 by Coach for Game 1, Schiano repeatedly stated that the guy who got on the field first would be dictated by the play call, not the player.

Both Huggins and Williams were going to get carries and they did.  So no one was "crazy" not to start Savon, he still got his touches.  Keep in mind, this kid is a true freshman and will now be starting by Game 3.  It's not like he has been sidelined for half of the season.  This is only Game 3.

It was not until this week, the bye week, that Coach said he intended to establish a defined 1 and 2 with Deering being the situational back.  Now everyone on the planet knew that Savon would be one of the Top 2.  He was the best back all summer and he is Savon Huggins, I'm not denying that point.  Well it turns out that Williams didn't appreciate being told he was not the #1.

Savon, despite the rough start, is a talent.  Like most RB's he needs to get his touches in order to be most effective and especially as a true freshman, he needs his touches to get a feel for D1A speed.   Let's see what he is able to do with 25 touches in a week and a half.  Then it will be on to Cuse...
