Simply put, Liverpool's Naz Johnson stuffed the stat sheet on Friday night. The result was not only a 94-74 win for the Warriors over Corcoran, but Johnson also surpassed 1,000 career points on the night.
The Liverpool senior finished with 33 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and six steals as the Warriors pulled away in the second half. Liverpool head coach Ryan Blackwell said that the since the loss of Johnson's fellow team leader, Charles Pride, performances like Friday's have been the norm for Johnson.
"Since Charles went out he has gone to another level," Blackwell said. "Scoring, rebounding, he has really taken it to another level."
Johnson hit the ground running on Friday, scoring twenty points before halftime and reaching the milestone in the second quarter. He finished the night with 1,014 career points.
Blackwell said the achievement was a result of Johnson's work to diversify his game.
"He has really worked to expand his game. Now with his athleticism, bigger guys can't guard him and smaller guys he can post up," Blackwell said. "Since I've coached him he has really made a tremendous jump."
Johnson and the undefeated Warriors, now 17-0, will look to stay perfect on Tuesday when they host Fayetteville-Manlius.
