My alma mater (Pleasantville HS) lost the Class B state championship to something called Maine-Endwell.

Maine Endwell has been a powerhouse for years

No shame losing to them, their sixth title in last 17 years now

The program has five state titles, including four straight from 2011-14. Two of those five (2004 and 2011) were actually achieved as a Class A school, and the 2011-14 teams were largely responsible for a state-record 62-game winning streak.

ME ( Greater Binghamton Area) has a traditionally strong program but sorry nonetheless.

Agree with above… that program is legit. Not a fluke.

Maine-Endwell won the little league World Series in 2016. They are all around athletes down there especially this current generation.

And the Jones brothers graduated from UE (Union-Endicott) which is like 10 minutes away from M.E. HS.

I bet some of those kids were stars on this state championship team. Quite a way to start your life!

Take solace that while your hometown may have lost the game, assuredly your hometown is better than M-E, in the grand scheme of things.

(Says a guy from Johnson City, right next to M-E; at least JC has a Wegman’s and what used to be a bustling Oakdale Mall)

And your alma mater beat my alma mater in the semi-finals (RCS). From what I heard about that game, Pleasantville is a very strong team.

Put an asterisk next to that state championship…

At one point they had to forfeit all of their games this season because they were playing an ineligible player…the kid was from a different town and didn’t want to play on that team so they “moved” so he could play at Maine-Endwell. NYSPHSAA forced them to forfeit. M-E hired a well known controversial lawyer Ronald Benjamin and he some how got the wins back and allowed for them to play in sectionals.

Their one loss on the season was to Union Endicott, where the Jones brothers are from

Hey, at least your school had a team. My alma mater, Jamesville-DeWitt, couldn't even field a team.
