Sadiq deserved more minutes

Nervous Business GIF by Adult Swim

Yes, it does. He’s off straight, not left or right. No coach in America would tell him to stop shooting.
Not saying to stop shooting just yet, but he is not looking like the shooter we’ve been looking for. And no, most aren’t close.

Sadiq reminds me of the Jackson kid from UCONN. I get Betsey was hot last night so there was no place to put him but he is the best on the ball defender we have had in I don't know when (and please don't cite Jonny Flynn who was all world in his stance and then didn't guard anyone.

Red has a good problem - may have too many forwards to get regular minutes.

He’s was out of position on defense a lot. It only his 5th game. Same with Anthony. I like them thrown in the deep end and see where they are.
What I see from Sadiq right now is a dependence on his athleticism which allowed him to dominate in HS, he now has to round out his "game" beyond athleticism. I think he gets there.

Plug him in somewhere. He’s as athletic, if not more, than their guys. 9 minutes in 2nd half and OT combined. I know Betsey played well, but put him in somewhere. We needed the rebounding. Hell, have him play backup center. Souare couldn’t do it. That aside, more than happy with today’s game, other than FT of course. Proud fan today. And maybe a little mad Betsey was on Sharp for that dagger! Can’t be mad though other than the free throws!
He'll get plenty of mins next 2 games. We were behind most of the 2nd and needed to have an extra shooter on the floor to get some shots and spacing. I think he's going to well rested and ready to beat up some Kansas fools.

Does it really look like he’s on the verge of hitting them?
I think most posters agree that he does. Not sure why you think otherwise. His history of high level 3-point shooting suggests that he’ll be able to knock them down—and that he’s still settling in and going through and adjustment period. I do think we need to work to get him more open shots. We did run some off ball actions for him last night. I’d like to see more of that.

i'd like to him used a bit more. very high energy guy . going to take some adjusting to get used to the physicality of this level . when do you think the last time was he had his blocked by a better dude ? humbling experience . but yes i want to see him in the 15-20 min range. kinda like when frosh stevie t played behind triche . just brings more energy and excitement. plus you get 5 fouls. use them !

i mean if one missed three gets you on the pine, kingz would never play lol
Kiyan would never play, lol. Funny moment. After Kiyan got fouled on the 3, Melo put his hands over his face. He knows his son is struggling at the line. For some, like Kyle, it is form. Heck, Kyle has the form I would as a 71 year old female. But mine would probably go in the basket. Kiyan is a mental thing. There is no way he has been a poor free throw shooter his whole life. You can see the over thinking when he is at the line
Side note for us old timers. I have talked to Jimmy Lee here to see if he could maybe work with the players on Free throw shooting, and also talked to some staff related folks. All think it couldn't hurt. Jimmy held the record from 1975 until Gerry broke it for highest FT %. He said mental is easier to fix than form.

Maybe I’m putting a reverse jinx on him. I hope I am. The shot just takes a very long time and doesn’t ever feel as if it’s going in. Does anyone here think it’s going in when he shoots it?

We don’t have too many if they play with last nights effort.

Yes every time. You are using recency bias on the result not the form and process. It will come and level out. Kingz is playing phenomenal lock down defense and is able to play hard both ways for the first time now that he is two years removed from injury. He is working to find that balance and rhythm on the offensive end and it’s close.

His feet and shot look excellent as does his release point. Nothing to worry about.

Same reverse jinx you put on Kyle hopefully ;)

Ok Tyler had a good game. If you think he should be playing more Minutes than Sadiq going forward, that’s crazy. Sadiq is also an outstanding defender. And we could have used his rebounding.
We need scoring big time. If you have Kyle, JJ, and White on the floor, who’s going to score outside of two feet?

i mean Kyle proved me wrong. It’s just a very slow loading shot. Hopefully he hits today. No more of this until after the game for me lol

I’ve been making that comparison a while now lol. At least defensively on the ball. Sadiq has work to do in order to manage his aggression with footwork but yes that’s a good analogy.

I think as it comes to Sadiq that people are missing how much Kyle brings when he is on the floor. Without a doubt he must have been banged up last year because there is no way he would have sat playing at this level. Kyle is comfortable driving on another big or forward for a flush, is elite and freaking everywhere on defense and just overall is playing at an all conference level. Sadiq is really good and will be but Betsey brings more balance and defends well enough alongside the freak that Kyle is and we just don’t always need Sadiq out there with Kyle roaming. Especially against teams that have 5 guys who can hurt you like Houston.

Oh when? Because he isn’t close. He isn’t just missing. And It’s a very slow loading shot. If he could get more off, we’d likely see more misses.
It reminds me of Andrew White. He couldn't hit a thing in early season losses that probably kept us out of the tournament that year with the late season collapse after the Duke win as well. Now is the time.
