In the "for what it's worth category", Sagarin ranking has SU at 60 (70.73) and CMU at 121 (57.06). This early in the season these rankings don't mean much, but as the season rolls along they gain cred.

CMU is ranked about the same as Nova (this year, 108 - 60.17). Based on Sagarin rankings, there are seven (7) winnable games left on on schedule (ratings between CMU - 57.06 and NCS -77.14). We need to win 4 of these 7 to go bowling.

  1. Rhode Island 233 (27.87)
  2. Wake Forest is 93 (63.82)
  3. CMU 121 (57.06)
  4. LSU 10 (87.58)
  5. USF 83 (64.98)
  6. UVA 58 (71.78)
  7. Pitt 56 (72.17)
  8. FSU 12 (87.09)
  9. Louisville 54 (74.01)
  10. Clemson 11 (87.44)
  11. NC State 44 (77.14)
  12. Boston College 49 (75.77)

Louisville is better than that ranking, NC State and BC are worse.

let's say our qb is the next joe montana or jordan rhe nexi jimmy brown then these rankinss are a farce.

Well if we can win 7 more, my regular season prediction will hold up! Let's go Orange! 9-3 baby!

Bc isn't good can't wait to smash them for thanksgiving but want the season to take its time too

Don't underestimate Houston. He could recruit his whole squad on one tank of gas. It's a better job than half the big 12

Houston is one of the best recruiting areas. If Houston was a Big 12 team, at worst, it would be the #5 job, possibly the #3, behind UT and OU.

I don't underestimate Houston, but the guy is a great up and coming coach. He'll want to be able to compete for a title at some point. Can't do that there unless they get an invite to the big-boy table.

Maybe not. He wrote a really good piece for SI's Campus Rush a week or two ago, and he drops a not-so-subtle hint that Houston is making a push at the Big 12. If they get in? Would probably take a top tier job to get him away.

Houston may be pushing but there is no incentive to take them. UT carries the city fanwise and gets whatever recruits they want. TAMU is in second place for Houston metro fans. LSU, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Houston are the third tier fans of UofH.

Tulane would be a better get for the big 12, SEC territory, new state coverage and more recruiting grounds. The football may stink, but the hsot city is also an attraction.

Central Florida (or USF)would add recruiting, destination, potential viewers, etc.

Just my opinion, but Houston is in a similar, albeit much sweeter, position as UConn. Several positives and several negatives.

This is very true. They have no incentive to add another Texas team.
