http://cuse.com/news/2015/4/2/SB_0402155500.aspx SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange welcomes once ranked, North Carolina to the Skytop Softball Stadium this weekend for its home opener. This weekend's contests are rescheduled for Friday and Saturday due to foreseeable weather conditions. A doubleheader is set for Friday, beginning at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday's finale is slated for 1:00 p.m. Bring On The Heavy Hitters After taking on the second best team in the conference last weekend, Syracuse will take on the third best team this team as North Carolina will come to Syracuse for a three-game series. Despite falling out of the Nation's Top 25, the Tarheels enter the weekend with the 40th best RPI out of 295 teams and come to Syracuse with the reputation as one of the best offensive teams in the country. UNC comes to Syracuse cruising on a four-game winning streak with its last win knocking off No. 9 Georgia, 15-9. Its shortstop, Kristen Brown, leads the country with 17 home runs. She leads an offense with seven starters hitting .322 or better. The Tarheel lineup also includes three student-athletes with batting averages .400 or higher. Brown is just a hair below the .400-clip with a .394 batting average. Syracuse won its first meeting with North Carolina back in 2012 but has lost the last three meetings, all of which coming last season. 'Cuse Trends

After a hot weekend at the plate, Maddi Doane carried her success at the plate into Wednesday's doubleheader with Fordham. In the midweek doubleheader against the A-10's reigning champions she launched her first career home run, drove in a run and scored two. She had her way at the plate over the weekend, hitting .400, slugging .800 and fighting for a .500 on-base percentage. In the series with Louisville she recorded four hits, two walks, two doubles, a triple, four runs scored and six runs batted in.
To say Sydney O'Hara has swung a hot bat of late would be an understatement. With her three hits, three RBI, run scored and a home run yesterday, O'Hara now bats .307 on the season with six home runs, 22 RBI and 11 runs scored. She caught fire in Florida against Yale when she went two-for-three with a home run and a double, driving in two runs and scoring two on her own. Since that game, she has hit .389 with 15 runs batted in, nine runs scored, five home runs and a double.
Corinne Ozanne launched home run number 10 yesterday against Fordham. It's her second home run in five games and she finished yesterday with two runs batted in and two runs scored on two hits.
Jocelyn Cater found her masterful form on Wednesday, holding Fordham to two runs with just one earned while striking out six in seven innings of work.
Sammy Fernandez and AnnaMarie Gatti are both back and ready to go for the Orange.
