Well here it is...real game time. Now is when the team leaders step forward and play their game well so the rest of the team falls into step and our starters are out of game with 3 minutes left and 'Cuse is well ahead of the opponent...in every NCAA game. So why are the leaders so important?

In BET Cincy game Dion was exceptional. Scored 28 points and we lost. In first Cincy game he scored 2 points and we won easily. In fact, Fab didnt play and Christmas gave 27 minutes of good ball matching up against Yancy well.
The difference is that Scoop and KJ played well...as did Triche and Christmas. In that game:
KJ 17 pts and 6 boards
Scoop 13 pts and 6 assts
BT 11 pts, 3 assts and 4 steals
Xmas 4 pts, 9 boards, and 3 blocks
CJ 6 boards
But in the BET game against Cincy while Dion played like D Wade, both Scoop and KJ had down games and this affected our other players including Trishe, Fair, and Christmas

In last four games Scoop has been sleep walking shooting 26% with 11 TOs...KJ managed 1 rebound in 33 minutes in last game...If this turns around as I expect...this team is unbeatable:

Here is the stats necessary for win:
Scoop 8 pts 6 assts 1 TO
KJ 15 pts 7 bds
Triche 9 pts 3 assts 3 bds
Dion 14 pts 1 asst 3 steals
X'mas 4 pts 7 bds 2 blocks
Fair 7pts 6 bds
Dirty 6 pts 3 bds
Keita 2 pts 4 bds

I believe that Scoop and KJ lead this team...and that 'Cuse wins!

I think Syracuse will need more than 65 points and 30 rebounds to win games.

Rak has to be able to catch the ball and score if he's open along with rebounding and playing a solid d. If he can do that then SU won't be playing 4 on 5 offensively like they do when Baye is in the game and it will open up everything. I'm no stat guy but when the opportunities arise, the players have to make plays to win this thing. Once the games get more difficult and I have to say this NC Ash game ain't easy, you get fewer chances to make plays and being timid or hesitant will make all the difference in the world for SU...who will step up and make plays.

Scoop I hope is over his yipes but after watching his free throw technique go to the crapper I'm a little about his mental state if he struggles in the beginning of the game it could continue to haunt him throughout.

I agree that Sccop and KJ have to step up, but the part from your post that I quoted above confuses me.

Explain how Scoop and KJ being down made Brandon shoot 4 for 13 from the field including 1 for 5 from behind the arc. How did their down games cause him to miss 2 crucial free throws and make a bad turnover shortly afterward?

How did KJ and Scoop being down affect Fair? He had 11 boards and was sick. He only attempted 3 shots the whole game. If anything, their being down would have caused him to be more of a factor had he been healthy.

How did KJ and Scoop being down affect Rak when he only played 3 minutes and did nothing?

As I say, I agree with the initial point that the seniors have to lead by performing, but I totally disagree with the notion that their down games caused Brandon to play like crap, Rak to only get 3 mionutes and do nothing, and CJ to be unable to overcome his illness.

When Scoop and KJ play well, it takes pressure and stress off of the other players...with Fab out today, there will be more pressure on Xmas and Keita to perform...how anyone responds will determine whether 'Cuse wins. So having good games from Scoop and KJ helps the rest of the team to do well (my view from playing collegiate sports and not being the team leader)

OK, but if that's true, isn't the opposite true as well? When your junior guard plays well, doesn't it also take pressure off of Scoop? CJ was impeded by illness, period. Not by Scoop. Not by KJ. Rak only played 3 minutes, so their perfromance didn't impact him at all.

We have three solid guards. If one of them is having a bad night, it doesn't hurt us too much. If two are tanking...like vs Cincy... then we are going to struggle. Both Scoop and Brandon struggled and neither one's struggles can be blamed on the other. Both simply had bad nights.

Besides, as far as pressure goes, these guys are playing for the #2 team in the country. Two of the guys you referenced are starters. One of them is an upper-classman. They should be expected to carry their own weight at this point. We should not be blaming their performance on their teammates.

I have been trying to cheer for Scoop lately but he keeps failing. He should be our 4th option at guard. Look at the last 4 games - he never does well at the end of the game.

JB will play scoop because JB is loyal to his seniors, but Scoop is not good at the end of a game. The less he plays, the better we'll do.

(Clip and save) If we get beat in the tourney, it's because JB kept Scoop in too long.

Really? Maybe not lately but he has absolutely made a crap ton of clutch shots late in the last two years.

I think you are going to be surprised by Scoop's positive performance in this tournament.
