I already knew everything about scoop, just like much of you. But man, reading the ESPN blurb, Donna's piece and nation of orange - you just get reminded of how far he has come.

From barely making it out of Philly, to some dumb relatives taking advantage of him, to scoop making some dumb off the court decisions, to being a pudgy freshman, redshirting a year, taking a backseat to a freshman before the freshman stepped foot on campus (a mildly recruited freshman at that), to making 'scoopid' turnovers or taking 'scoopid' shots, and finally, being maligned by half the fan base.

He has transformed himself into an absolute role model, leader, and selfless player. He will go down as an all timer in my book.

His transformation to me, is every bit of impressive as what Gerry did in his 4 years, maybe even better because how he handled it along the way.

I for 1, can't wait to give him a standing scoop tomorrow.

No doubt he will be a success in whatever career he decides to do and I agree he's a helluva leader.

i believe the scoopster's career 3 pt shooting % is higher than little gerrys.

Great post, Scoop has really overcome a lot. Just like most of us, he has frustrated the heck out of me at times but he's been a great teammate, mentor, etc, overcome a lot of issues, and will leave as a top 5 or so assist guy and 1000 pt scorer.

Also, I've come to expect that while he might miss a FT at points, when he pulls up from anywhere during a crucial point, I've come to expect him to make it. He kind of reminds me of the Pitt PG's. ON the surface, they didn't appear to overwhelm you but next thing you know, they hit that dagger from deeper.

There's a reason why JB had Scoop host DC2 during his official.

One small quibble is that Triche was not mildly recruited. Not only was he one of the top players before his injury, even after, he was a top recruit to JB, and that is all that mattered.

Funny you said Gerry. I was comparing him to Rautins as someone who developed into a better player and person than when they arrived.

Was shocked at his improvement his soph year after the redshirt, completely different player from his freshman year. He was the unsung hero of that team, triche was the token starter but that team was at its best with scoop running the show. Definitely an all timer for me, but im still scared to death of this situation: elite 8, down 1, 10 seconds left, scoop tries an alley oop to fab that hits the top of the backboard and ricochets into the backcourt as time expires

That is scoop, many of his plays are swing for the fence. However, without taking the risks, one would never breakdown a defense and get into the seems, find open shooters, which is what JB has said, and we've seen, Scoop do real well this year. If one dribbles around the perimeter, they won't make a lot of those bad passes but you'd have no offense without it.

I've come to really enjoy Scoop this year and just go with it when he throws it away at UConn, or tries an oop with 2 mins to go that everyone knows is not there.

might be scarier still if scoop was fouled on the pass

At this point I'm 99% sure Scoop make sthe two Ft's in that situation. Also no way he makes a bad a oop pass in a critical end of the game situation this season. That is one of his huge improvments this year. he is still unafraid of the big play and the big moment but he is much less apt to force the ball and much more likely to make a good high percentage play or pass.

oop pass makes it 1 and 1 and i'm only about 45% sure.

He just did both in the last few games. Was it at Lou or UConn? During the close game with about 2-3 to go, he threw an oop that was wild. JB gave him the "not needed at that moment" look when he came down.

Also, he missed several key ones during the last few weeks. During the the one game (USF?), he was about to get fouled and quickly got rid of it to Brandon (who either missed one or both).

That said, you take the the few lapses for all the good he's been doing.

If we are down 1 or 2 with 30 seconds on the clock in the elite 8 and the ball, i want the ball in scoop's hands and i expect him to make the play to get us in the final 4.
