First day: 11-5 with none of the five losers projected to win in the next round. I had 5 upsets on the board and only one came through. And that wasn't much of an upset. I'm sure a lot of people Had Xavier over Maryland. Florida Gulf Coast competed with Florida State but couldn't beat them. St. Mary's easily handled VCU's press. Iowa State didn't have a problem with Nevada. East Tennessee hung in with Florida for a half but that was it. A lot of people Had Middle Tennessee over Minnesota but I didn't think they'd beat a Big Ten team two years in a row. I had picked the wrong directional Tennessee team. I had a couple of teams, (Notre Dame and Northwestern) barely hang on. But they did. It was a pretty chalk day for a supposedly flat tournament with no great teams and many good ones that had been seeded wrong, according to many people. Second day: 13-3 with none of the three teams projected to win in the next round. I had 3 upsets on the board and two of them came through: Wichita State and Michigan State. Seton Hall saw it slip away for reasons that have been discussed at length. SMU lost to USC on a late 3. Michigan held on for a wild 92-91 win over Oklahoma State. Rhode Island bumped off Creighton. Mr. Chalk had a 12-4 record so he's 26-6 overall, making the committee look better than it deserves. The game have mostly been close. Kansas and North Carolina won in blow-outs. There was 22 point game and four 20 point games. But that's only 7 of 32 games that were won by such margins. Overall I'm 24-8 with the good news that my Sweet 16 intact. That's the best position I've been in for some years. The eight games I've lost were lost by a total of 68 point, 8.5 per game. That's basketball.
