Day One: After a bad start, (4-4 with three automatic losers in future rounds), I ended on an 8 game winning streak to go 12-3. Two predicted upsets failed to occur, (Charleston over San Diego State in a 12-5 game and Illinois over Arkansas in a 9-8 game) but one did, (Penn State over Texas A&M in a 10-7). Observations:

- Honk if you had Princeton over Arizona
- I'm wondering, despite their natty, if Tony Bennett's 'system helps Virginia more in the grind of the regular season than in a signal elimination post season tourney. Slowing it down keeps underdogs in the game. They've lost a 1-16 game and two 4-13 games in their last four appearances. 
- As a Syracuse fan, watching that basketball powerhouse Penn State advance in a tourney we've missed two years in a row is a teeth-grinder.
- That said, an awful lot of interesting sports days have been ruined by having to watch a Syracuse game in recent years and it's sorta fun just to watch games for fun.
