Scott Shafer Updates Post Spring Depth Chart

Knee-jerk reaction: don't like to see long-snapper unsettled. That's one important area in which we've had excellent play for several seasons.

5-8 169 pound strong safety - YIKES.

I have to think that's a major opportunity for a true frosh to crack the lineup. And D Line looks to be the other big area where we're going to see some true frosh on the 2 deep.

The thing that jumps out at me - and maybe I missed an injury - is that Ashton Broyld is nowhere to be found.

Dunk and Broyld for starters.

Well, of course as soon as I hit "publish" they released an updated depth chart. Oh well, I had some thoughts anyway:

May I ask why you feel that way? I'm always curious when people say this stuff. I like Broyld for instance, he's taking the shifting around in stride and does what he can to see playing time. At the same time, I'm not upset he's 3rd string. It means others have proven themselves better, at least at this time. My thought is the best players should be on the field regardless and if certain people have to ride the pine to make that happen will that's a lot better than another abysmal season.

Wait, where's Dunk? He had the most looks at TE in the Spring game and the most catches of anyone.
