After the NC State loss, I was really disappointed on many levels like probably most SU fans. Most of all, disappointed that we are likely going to face a losing record and miss out on a bowl game that we really needed. This hurts the reputation of our program, recruiting, and missing out on further developing our players (and coaches) with an extra month of practices.
Within all of that disappointment, I started thinking about our players. While we don't have the talent on the field we need to get back to a consistent top 25 level team, I love the effort that they give. These guys are working their tails off and giving it their all. I am proud of what they do week in and week out regardless of the score. Yeah, I get frustrated at times (many times actually) with interceptions, dropped balls, missed tackles, lack of blocking, etc. However, these guys seem to be playing as hard as they can and never give up. Sometimes an appreciation for the players on the field gets lost when we have seasons like these which is the reason for the post.
Just one man's perspective for whatever it's worth.
