Anyone basketball season ticket holders find SU opting us into buying the seatbacks a little strange (aka, you need to uncheck a box if you don't want to upgrade/pay the fee to have a seatback)? Almost like "Hey, I bet half the people won't even notice this" type of money grab.

I liked it when I got my e-mail yesterday. I do order the seatbacks anyway, so now I don't have to place a separate order for them.
Anyone who doesn't spot this on the order form must be at a pretty low reading level, especially since it is pointed out in the letter.

Personally, I think they should have the minority of season ticket holders who want to cushions "opt in" instead of forcing the majority to "opt out".

Those things suck, are a pain in the ass and take up too much space. I hate that the person next to me has one. Drives me crazy

That's why they are awesome - they reserve the 14 inches of space you paid for and keep people from sliding down.

I don't think they are all that comfortable, but they are totally worth it for the big BBall game.

We don't have them and neither do the people on either side. Sometimes there are people with more than a 14" butt that inevitably crowd into us.

Exactly my thought. Obviously it's easy to uncheck the box, but it definitely rubs me the wrong way. It's certainly a business strategy to increase revenue .

Are the seat backs listed for everyone? Level A seats always had them.

Those seats save me, especially for football. I concur that they are not the greatest, but better than lugging your own. I tried 3 different types before I settled on the university's seats.

I have them and I love them. I don't care about comfort; I'm just territorial. Our seats are in the middle of the row right where the number switches, and with people on either side of us often selling their tix I'm happy to eliminate all newbie guesswork.

It was odd to have the seat purchase as default rather then an add-on. But anything for revenue, right?

Wonder if the more people who opt in, they may not have to worry about those silver seats glowing away when people don't show.

cheaper than painting them orange like we have wanted for years.. huge revenue stream you would think. school buys them for $10 sells them for $40 for years until they wear out. where do they store them i wonder and how much do they spend to put them up and take them down every game.

I agree. Drives us crazy, also. The people next to us have them and because of the location of the "posts" to hold the bleachers down (if that's the correct phrasing!), we now have 1 2/3 seats instead of 2 full seats. We are not very happy. the cushioned seats had to be placed past the "posts."

Doesn't take a genius to figure out that SU's Hoops revenue will be going down next year. I bet they lose 3-4k season ticket holders.

Next year's home conference schedule is the poorest we've ever had. Season ticket sales are definitely going to take a hit.

Who we are playing or how good/bad the team is predicted to he should not impact the decision to keep season tickets. Not if you are a real fan anyway-

I dont necessarily disagree with you, but this thread could end up being like thread about season ticket holders being "too poor" not to sell their tickets(to Duke fans, or anyone for that matter). I wish I wasnt away for that one.

I kind of like this thread how it currently is, relating the seatbacks to the song "Territorial Pissings". It also reminds me of some airlines now charging for 2 seats if you can't fit into one, which I think has merit to it. Maybe SU can make up some of it's lost revenue with more forward thinking like this, rather than having something automatically checked like the toolbars or google chrome, etc that other installer programs often force you to uncheck and some folks dont catch.
