Take a look at the Wolfs starting O. Huge across the front not one kid under 300 pounds. Both TE's are big and their RB's are big as well. On D they look a little light up front other than that they have D1 size at every position. I would think that this would be a good game to introduce Walls and our Iowa kid on the DL. My sense is that they are going to try to pound the rock and catch us with some play action. In short i expect them to play us like we tried to play teams last year. We need to knock these guys out early or we may be in for a game

Not going to be a gimmie by any means, was talking to one of the Cornell football coaches at my kids soccer game last night.. He said he knows a couple of the coaches over at Stony, said they think they have a shot at the 1AA national championship this year, they have a real good sqaud. Also Stonybrook as a school has really attempted to beef up their athletic program.. Their hoops and baseball programs had great years as well. There is a lot of 1A talent on this team. We need to play well and be ready

I realize it was against Pace, but on the highlights, they look like a D1 team.

I would say they are about a mid level MAC Team from watching the same, by far the best 1AA we have ever played. Just get the W and get the out of there, very concerned about this game, very because a let down is almost always going to happen after a game like last week, the kids won't even realize it. They will feel like they are ready to play but there is absolutely no way you will see the same effort we did last week, no way. Hate this -ing game.

Eh. Now we are setting the bar so low that some will have excuses if we lose or squeak by. Yea they have a few big fat guys and yea they have a couple of good RB's. But football takes more than a few guys. Football is 40-50 key players. How many on their team would start here? 1?? Don't overlook them but if we play smart and aggressive the expectation should be a 3 TD win. They aren't USC or even NW.

It's not that SU isn't better. It's the let-down factor against a decent FCS team. History suggests that I will be screaming at the TV mid-way through the 3rd quarter.

Bees, I am not saying it's acceptable but possible. Geeze.

Our offense has been very consistent the first two weeks, our defensive speed has improved greatly. Marrone should accept the opening kickoff and drive right down the field get an early lead and just settle down. Let's stop lowering the bar and start raising the bar. Doug Marrone is in his 4th year all of this roster expect the 5th year Seniors and some other Seniors are his recruits. We win this game by atleast 2 scores or Doug Marrone is showing Dr. Gross he needs to be evaluate his job. I expect to win every game and worry about every game, but this is a game we should win 34-17 ish.

Even if we play a semi mistake-prone game, i.e. somewhere in between NW and USC, we should win easily. If we don't cover, I'll be disappointed.

We're 0-2. I'm going to go ahead and assume we won't be letting down one bit for this game, and that we'll win by 4 TDs.

I don't see this unfolding like the URI game last year where it seemed like the coaches wanted to use the opportunity to get the run game going. I see it as wanting to get the offense going right away (no 1st quarter TDs yet), and get in tempo earlier. I think given the material we have on offense, Marrone is perfectly happy only rushing for 100 yards per game this season. He already stated it once. We'll be throwing. A lot. Stony Brook should have no chance at stopping it.

On D, it won't be trickery from SB we have to worry about. It will be effort. And our guys are better.

Maybe it's a game early on, as we get our feet wet. But won't be for long.

This is exactly how the game should play out. Maybe close early but then the talent and speed of a D1 team should come through and SU should take over the game. As someone noted above its not rocket science there whole offense is predicated around running the ball, should have 8 in the box ready to go. I do agee with IB that this is a shitty game to have sandwiched between USC and Minnesota and I am leery as anyone but this is still a game SU should win and win by more then 2 TD. There is no execuse for a repeat of RI or god forbid a loss, absolutely none.

I predict that in a few short years, we'll see a non-BCS level league equivalent to an East Coast MAC made up of UMass, UConn, Stony Brook, Albany, Buffalo, Rutgers, Temple, Army, and Navy. Lord knows who they could get to go to 12; Villanova and Georgetown plus one?

Maybe it's what the BE will morph into after casting off some of the more far-flung hoops only schools (DePaul, Marquette).

It would be best for all involved.

Difference between being big up front and being big up front. They have fatter guys and we have way more athleticism, plus much added muscle mass this year.

We roll 49-21.

Dead on post! It would make no sense to change up your offensive philosophy/system for this game...only to go back to it the following weekend in a crucial road game at Minnesota. Especially, as you mentioned, no 1st quarter TD's and our offense struggling in the first half of both games...

I think the most difficult thing to evaluate is team speed. They may look big and fast against Pace but that doesnt translate into being big and fast against us. I do not think that they will have the ability to outrun us - the only real concern I have is being able to stop the run up the middle - I think we are faster in the secondary but this is a real test for our DLine.

Now I would have been concerned with last year's team but just like we played up against USC, they will play up against us this weekend. I suspect it will go just like we did against USC...I suspect about a 14 point difference throughout most of the game (or maybe 21 points with us having another TD late with our 2nd team offense) with them scoring a late TD against some of our 2nd team defense playing at that time. I do not think we will blow them away - they are a good team and will score against us.

Halftime - SU 21 SB 7
Game - SU 38 SB 24

NW and USC we're big up front as well. We'll do fine against size this year.

If they have anyone as fast/dangerous/skilled as Mark, Woods, or Lee that would be a bit more of a concern
