ESPN was hyping the SEC. They will likely ahve at elast one team in the anitonal ttile game again this eyar. I decided to look at how teams from other conferecnes had done against them during their naitonal title run. That excludes last year when two SEC teams were in it.

2006 Ohio State was 12-0 and had ourscored their oppeonts 436-125, (36-10) going into the game with Florida. They lost, 14-41.

2007 Ohio State was 11-1, 384-128, (32-11) and lost to LSU 24-38.

2008 Oklahoma was 12-1, 702-319, (54-25) and lost to Florida, 14-24.

2009 Texas was 13-0, 529-197, (41-15) and lost to Alabama 21-37.

2010 Oregon was 12-0, 592-221, (49-18) and lost to Auburn 19-22.

The five teams, (Two fromt he big 10, two from the Big 12 and one from the pac 10), came in at 60-2, averaging 43 points a game and giving up 16 points a game. They lost by an average of 18-32. Their offensive output dropped by 25 points a game. Their defense gave 16 more points per game. The more striking of these tow is how SEC defenses slowed down some high powered offenses, especially Oklahoma and Oregon. The Sooners had set an NCAA record by scoring 60+ points in five straight games. They got two touchdowns.

Everybody is talking about Missouri's dynamic offense. I wonder how they will do against Georgia.
