Even with the loss, here is the SEC's record in the BCS national championship game since 2006:
2006: Ohio State came in outscoring it's opponents by an average of 36-10. They lost 14-41 to Florida.
2007: Ohio State came in outscoring it's opponents by an average of 32-11. They lost 24-38 to LSU.
2008: Oklahoma came in outscoring it's opponents by an average of 54-25. They lost 14-24 to Florida.
2009: Texas came in outscoring it's opponents by an average of 41-15. They lost 21-37 to Alabama.
2010: Oregon came in outscoring it's opponents by an average of 49-18. They lost 19-22 tp Auburn
2011: Two SEC teams played each other.
2012: Notre Dame came in outscoring it's opponents by an average of 27-10. They lost 14-42 to Alabama
2013: Florida State came in outscoring it's opponents by an average of 53-11. They won 34-31 over Auburn.
The average non-SEC opponent has come in averaging winning by 42-14. They have been defeated 6 times in seven games by an average of 20-34. They are thus -22 on offense and +20 on defense. The defensive number won't surprise many but the offensive number might: the SEC teams have been dominant on both sides of the ball. Even Florida State was -19, -20.
