Here are the actual high temperatures in Syracuse for each day in 2014-2020 compared to the average high, (based on stats that go back to 1901) and the difference that day, + or – as well as a running deficit or surfeit. Here is the website I used for these numbers: https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/syracuse/13202/september-weather/329675?year=2020 (I have now had to add this website as Accuweather has dropped the average highs from their chart: Daily Normals for Syracuse, NY ) The numbers are the date, the actual high, the historical average high, the net difference, the cumulative net since January 1st, the numbers of days we exceeded the historical average, the number of days we didn't reach it and the number of days we tied it. September 2020 9/01 76 - 77 = -1 = +747 = 159-78-9 9/02 84 – 77 = +7 =+754 = 160-78-9 9/03 81 – 77 = +4 = +758 = 161-78-9 9/04 76 – 77 = -1 = +757 = 161-79-9 9/05 76 – 76 = 0 = +757 = 161-79-10 9/06 76 – 76 = 0 = +757 = 161-79-11 9/07 84 – 76 = +8 = +765 = 162-79-11 9/08 86 – 75 = +11 = +776 = 163-79-11 9/09 88 – 75 = +13 = +789 = 164-79-11 9/10 82 – 75 = +7 = +796 = 165-79-11 9/11 66 – 74 = -8 = +788 = 165-80-11 9/12 77 – 74 = +3 = +791 = 166-80-11 9/13 71 – 73 = -2 = +789 = 166-81-11 9/14 66 – 73 = -7 = +782 = 166-82-11 9/15 66 – 73 = -7 = +775 = 166-83-11 9/16 76 – 72 = +4 = +779 = 167-83-11 9/17 65 – 72 = -7 = +772 = 167-84-11 9/18 63 – 71 = -8 = +764 = 167-85-11 9/19 60 – 71 = -11 = +753 = 167-86-11 9/20 63 – 71 = -8 = +745 = 167-87-11 9/21 67 – 70 = -3 = +742 = 167-88-11 9/22 69 – 70 = -1 = +741 = 167-89-11 9/23 77 – 69 = +8 = +749 = 168-89-11 9/24 79 – 69 = +10 = +759 = 169-89-11 9/25 82 – 68 = +14 = +773 = 170-89-11 9/26 83 – 68 = +15 = +788 = 171-89-11 9/27 83 – 68 = +15 = +803 = 172-89-11 9/28 84 – 67 = +17 = +820 = 173-89-11 9/29 75 – 67 = +8 = +828 = 174-89-11 9/30 66 – 66 = 0 = +828 = 174-89-12 Comments: To me it’s felt like fall since late August but the numbers don’t bear it out. There were 15 days in September that exceeded the average high and three more that matched it. We only fell short a dozen times and gained another 80 degrees on the year. In fact our Septembers have consistently been warmer than normal since I’ve been keeping track of temperatures, (see below). This year remains by far the warmest since 2014. The only one close was 2016 which was +585 at this point and wound up +653. The next closest was 2017 which was +129/+139.
