Seton Hall hires ex-Rutgers Head coach

Is that legal? To hire a guy because he already has a top recruit lined up?

I only scanned the story, but thats pretty much happened right?

are they waiting on some rutgirls players to then transfer their also?

What model is Rutgers following that demands their basketball head coach struggle to filter what comes out of his mouth?

My memory might be faulty but I think Hill was previously an assistant at Seton Hall before he ever went to Rutgers. He's known as a recruiter in the NJ area and was a longtime assistant in the Big East before Rutgers ever named him head coach. He's another Rutgers coach who left with settlement money.

I don't know what makes this guy such an ace recruiter. He isn't at all impressive as a speaker and looks like a dumpy, nerdy insurance adjuster type. Good for Hall but I hope that hot shot PG likes playing in the NIT because I can't see SH being a winning program.

The reason I remember this is that I think Louie Orr let Fred Hill go and some Seton Hall fans were upset. Rutgers was hoping that Gary Waters would pick him up but Nova did and they had some of their best recruiting years ever with Kyle Lowry, Randy Foye, Curtis Sumpter, Allan Ray, Mike Nardi, Jason Frasier etc. He had great connections, it will be interesting to see what bridges he burned when he went to Rutgers. It was rumored that he helped get his former boss, Gary Waters, canned so he could get that esteemed HC job at Rutgers. He seems to be more effective in an assistants role despite his ambition. Pressure had to be on Willard at SHU about recruiting to recycle Hill. Rutgers does seem to be the constant where coaches supposedly on the rise go to take a hard hard fall.

He was the coach in the RAC Wrecker game which presumably means he recruited Mike Rosario. Rosario is a waaayyy higher caliber recruit than Rutgers normally pulls. Did he get Echinique also?

Ahhhh, Fred Hill, the coach that ran onto the baseball field after a game and got in a shouting match with the opposing coach. Just another classy ex-Rutgers coach.
