I think most, if not all of those guys are 4 year players which is good since we definitely need some program players. But let's not forget that other teams used Boeheim's age against us in recruiting the last few seasons. What happens in 2020-21 when Boeheim turns 76 and we have a potential 7 player class to fill? We thought filling out a 5 player class this year was tough. It's only going to be harder four years from now when we probably won't have the option to extend JB unless he wants to coach until he's 80+.

And what if we get Buddy next year and JB plans to retire after Buddy graduates in 2021-22? That means JB will be responsible for bringing in a seven man class in 2020-21 with everyone and their mother knowing that Boeheim is going to retire after the 2021 class' freshman year of college. That's going to be a tough sell job to recruits to have them come in under Boeheim for one season without knowing who their coach will be for the following three years.

As much as Ayala would be nice to have for next year, this is yet another reason that I'd rather roll with Thorpe for one year. Getting Thorpe would also allow us to have a 3 or 4 player class in 2018.
