Sure guys can be on teams that can cause stats to be inflated or deflated but the stats should still be able to correctly indicate a players basic ability or lack of ability even in those situations. There are always outliers, players can be put in better situations to succeed and players improve but if a guy shot 25% from 3 on 100 attempts he's not a good 3pt shooter 99.99999% of the time.
