I love the guy and just want him to succeed. IF it was me and I knew I was not going to be getting any more money to spend on a staff this is how I would approach it.

1) Shafer takes the reigns of DC and keeps same salary. Get rid of Bullough.
2) Use Bulloughs and MCD's salary to go out and get a more proven OC (600-700k or so?)
3) Use any left over funds to upgrade position coaching salaries.

Shafer is a good DC and would love to have him back in control of the defense. It would be a plus funds wise too. Just an idea.

The defense hasn't been bad. It has struggled when it gets worn down do to a full game of the offense having 3 and outs. No reason to fire bullough. If gmac wants to stay as recruiting coordinator and wr coach this is fine. Lester may be okay. He has experience. Let's give him a chance before you go around imploding shafers staff.

Bullough has done alright, and it would be tough to get rid of him for this reason. Just showing that this a way to get a quality OC in the building. With that said I would take Shafe at DC over Bullough everyday of the week.

Best scenario get Gross' head out of his bum and get a few more bucks for paying the staff.

I'm not sure Gross has any chance of getting more money for the staff at this point. It's Syverud's call and Gross has no leverage.

Gross has ways he just has to stop paying non revenue sports coaches ridiculous salaries. That would be more than enough for appropriate football coaching salaries.

He's supposed to just fire those coaches without cause at this point? Don't think the administration or future job prospects would think too highly of that.

Doesn't have to fire them, just cut their pay. Women's Lax coach makes more than everyone on the football staff except Shafer.

I just wish his offense would move forward. ;)
